Biography

Alma Diamond is a Michigan Faculty Fellow at the University of Michigan Law School. She teaches courses on contracts, legal philosophy, and constitutional theory. Her research primarily explores the dynamics of contracts and constitutions as they distribute power among individuals over time. Diamond examines the nature of textual interpretation and the interplay of formal rules with informal practices, as well as the boundaries of rights and coercion. Previously, she was a Law & Philosophy Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School, where she co-taught the Law & Philosophy Workshop. She also earned an LLM cum laude from New York University and a SJD from the same institution, where she received the David M. Memorial Prize.
