Biography

Almamy Malick Kante is a demographer specializing in methodological measurement approaches for mortality, causes of death, and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) indicators. His work focuses on strengthening national data systems, particularly sample registration systems (SRS), to generate timely and reliable policy-relevant health mortality statistics in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He is engaged in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health programs in sub-Saharan African countries. Kante has a strong background in using data science and has been involved in various projects aimed at improving age-cause-specific under-five mortality rates and enhancing the impact of community-based health programs. He received his PhD from Université Paris 1 in 2009 and has held fellowships at the National Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) in France and the Fondation de France.
