Dr. Almudena Sevilla

Biography

Almudena Sevilla is a prominent academic in the field of gender economics, currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has held academic positions at University College London, Queen Mary University of London, University of Oxford, University of Essex, and the Congressional Budget Office in Washington, D.C. Prof. Sevilla has significantly contributed to the advancement of women in economics, recognized for her leadership as a founding chair and ambassador for the Royal Economic Society’s UK Women in Economics Network. Her research focuses on family and population economics as well as econometrics, with a strong track record in investigating gender inequalities within labor markets and household behavior. She holds a PhD in Economics from Brown University (2004) and has served as president of the Society of Economics of the Household. Sevilla frequently shares her insights at leading academic and policy forums, engaging with various stakeholders about evidence on gender disparities. Her prestigious work has been published in top-tier journals, and she has received substantial research funding, including a £2 million European Research Council Consolidator Grant.
