Biography

Al Bhimani is a Professor of Management Accounting at the London School of Economics. He is the founding director of LSE Entrepreneurship and the director of LSE Enterprise and the South Asia Centre. He previously served as the head of LSE’s Department of Accounting. Al has authored over 100 publications, with research focusing on management accounting, artificial intelligence, tech entrepreneurship, and the impact of digitalization on management control systems. His recent books include 'Accounting Disrupted: Digitalization Changing Finance' published by Wiley and 'Financial Management for Technology Start-ups' from Kogan Page. Al is an advisory board member for business schools across Africa, America, Europe, and Asia and speaks extensively to both academic and business audiences worldwide. He is a qualified CPA in Canada and obtained his MBA from Cornell University, alongside his PhD from LSE. Al serves on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals including the European Accounting Review and Management Accounting Research. In recognition of his contributions to research, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Aalto University in Finland and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Accounting and Finance Association.
