Dr. Alpha Abebe

Biography

Alpha Abebe is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Studies & Media Arts at McMaster University. He holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Oxford and has extensive academic credentials in interdisciplinary studies, specifically focusing on refugee and forced migration studies. His educational background includes a Master of Arts from York University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto. Abebe has also undergone postgraduate training, earning a Graduate Diploma in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from York University. His research interests primarily revolve around communication in relation to migration, policy implications of refugee movements, and the social dynamics affecting displaced populations. Through his scholarship, he aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the challenges and experiences of refugees and forcibly displaced individuals.
