Biography

Álvaro Calzadilla joined UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources as an Associate Professor in Macro-economic Modelling in July 2015. His primary research focus is on applied general equilibrium analysis, particularly in the areas of agricultural policies, natural resources, renewable energy, climate change, decarbonization, and the circular economy. Prior to joining UCL, Álvaro worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany and as a research fellow at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy. He began his research career at the Universidad Católica Boliviana in Bolivia. Álvaro holds a PhD in Economics from Hamburg University and has expertise in Sustainable Development Goals related to clean water, responsible consumption and production, and climate action.
