Biography

Alvin B. Tillery, Jr.'s research and teaching interests lie in American politics and political theory. His research in American politics focuses on racial and ethnic politics, American political development, and social movements. In political theory, he explores American political thought and critical race theory. He is the author of "Between Homeland and Motherland: Africa, U.S. Foreign Policy and Black Leadership in America," which won the W.E.B. Du Bois Distinguished Book Award from the National Conference of Black Political Scientists. His works have been published in esteemed journals such as the American Political Science Review and the Journal of Black Studies. As the Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Diversity and Democracy, Professor Tillery is actively engaged in promoting diversity within political discourse.
