Biography

Dr. Belle is a Cameroonian/Canadian computer scientist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Lassonde School of Engineering. He holds a PhD in Software Engineering from the University of Quebec (École de Technologie Supérieure). His professional experience includes a two-year industrial postdoctoral position in Software Engineering at the University of Ottawa, and further industrial postdoctoral work with the federal public service in Canada. He also completed a graduate diploma in Public Administration and Governance at McGill University, which enhanced his project management skills and leadership competencies. Arriving at York University in July 2021, Dr. Belle has supervised forty students and postdoctoral researchers, securing ten million in funding as Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator, and co-applicant from organizations such as Connected Minds, CFREF, Mitacs, and IDRC. His service to the academic community includes roles on international committees, such as co-chair for student volunteers at ICSE 2022, and participation in organizing committees for APSEC 2023 and ICSE 2024. He is a reviewer for several high-impact journals, including ACM TOSEM and IEEE Software. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Belle is passionate about poetry, having won several local and international contests, and is fluent in both French and English.
