Biography

Amade M’charek is a Professor at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in the fields of anthropology, race, forensics, and genetic diversity. His interdisciplinary research explores how notions of race are constructed within forensic identification processes. Utilizing theories from Postcolonial Feminist Science and Technology Studies, he investigates the implications of forensic practices in the context of migration and colonial histories. M’charek's studies often focus on the material and social elements surrounding human remains and the ethical dimensions of forensic anthropology. He has spearheaded multiple funded research projects such as 'RaceFaceID' and 'Vital Elements', which delve into the intersections of race and forensic methods.
