Biography

Amanda Brødsgaard is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Japan Studies. Her academic background includes a master’s degree from the same institution, focusing on the intersection of Japanese robotics and techno-nationalism. Her ongoing PhD project explores the impact of innovation policy in Japan, particularly in the context of advanced technology and humanoid robots. She examines how robotics and techno-nationalism influence societal policies and the co-creation of technology. Amanda’s primary research areas revolve around the interactions between technology and humans, as well as how technological imaginaries shape perceptions in society. Her current research project is titled "Techno-nationalism Land Rising Robots: Japanese government's co-construction policy technoscience," which investigates the role of the Japanese government and robotics industry in public science and technology co-construction. She is advised by Marie Højlund Roesgaard, an Associate Professor in Japan Studies.
