Biography

Amanda Burgess is a senior research associate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with extensive experience in public health advocacy. She is dedicated to addressing inequities in maternal, child, and sexual reproductive health. Amanda has co-led efforts to unite over 1,200 members of the international sexual reproductive health community, facilitating impactful discussions aimed at transforming global health practices. As a technical resource for a multi-country advocacy initiative, she coordinated strategic communications among more than 30 partners focused on locally-driven advocacy across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Her collaborative efforts have resulted in 3,454 advocacy successes and mobilized $186 million for family planning initiatives over a 13-year span. Currently, she serves as the project training coordinator for the Data Innovation Coordination Hub under the IMPROVE Maternal Health Research Centers of Excellence Initiative in the Department of International Health.
