Biography

Amanda Clayton is an Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on the consequences of women’s political representation, including the adoption of electoral gender quotas and how they shape the substantive representation of women's interests in national legislatures. She also investigates how the exposure of women officeholders affects citizen behavior. Currently, her research examines gender and climate governance, and she is working on a book project that explores the origins of gender differences in climate attitudes worldwide.
