Amanda Grenier joined the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work in July 2019 as the Norman Honey Schipper Chair in Gerontological Social Work, appointed at Baycrest Hospital. Previously, she served as a Professor at McMaster University, where she held the Gilbrea Chair in Aging & Mental Health and directed the Gilbrea Centre. Grenier was also a faculty member at McGill University within the School of Social Work. She is an interdisciplinary scholar with a focus on aging throughout the life course, primarily investigating the interface between public policies, organizational practices, and the lived experiences of older individuals, particularly regarding aging inequality. Grenier has led and participated in numerous research initiatives at international, national, and provincial levels addressing aging care. Her work includes funded research on life course transitions, social constructs of frailty, aging and disability, home care reform, and homelessness among older populations, supported by organizations such as SSHRC, ESDC, and CIHR. She is a distinguished recipient of the 2018 Katz Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Interdisciplinary Age Studies at Trent University and the 2017 Hallsworth Visiting Fellow at the University of Manchester, UK. Amanda is active on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Aging Studies and serves on multiple expert advisory committees pertaining to aging.
