Dr. Amanda Holmes

Biography

Professor Amanda Holmes is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University, where she has made significant contributions to the field of Hispanic Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon in 2001. Professor Holmes held a faculty position at McGill and served as the Chair of Hispanic Studies from 2008 to 2011. She is currently the Director of Graduate Studies. Her research focuses on the relationship between literature and film through the lens of spatial theory, particularly within urban studies. She has published numerous works that examine the representation of the Latin American city in literature and culture, addressing themes of national and transnational identities in Latin American film.
