Dr. Amanda Kost

Biography

Amanda Kost is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington, where she focuses on medical student education and conducts research in medical education. She attended medical school at the University at Buffalo and completed her Master's in Education at the University of Washington, specializing in educational research and statistics. After finishing her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Washington, she worked in community health before joining the faculty. Kost has played an integral role in the curriculum renewal process at the School of Medicine, where she helped develop and implement innovative clinical immersion experiences and theme-based curricula. As Director of Medical Student Education, she is actively involved in faculty development programs and advises various student initiatives, including the Community Health Advancement Program and the Urban Scholars Program. Kost has served nationally, including roles with the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, where she contributed to the Medical Student Education Committee and chaired the Medical Student Education Conference in 2020. Additionally, she is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners' Test Development Committee and has a strong editorial background in family medicine and medical education journals. Kost continues to practice full-spectrum family medicine at Harborview Medical Center, where she serves as Chief of the Family Medicine Service.
