Biography

Amanda Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University. She received her M.D. from Johns Hopkins University and completed her anesthesiology residency at Stanford University, where she also served as chief resident. Since joining Duke in 2016, she has pursued a fellowship in regional ambulatory anesthesia and has become actively involved in medical education, currently serving as the Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Regional Anesthesiology Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Kumar is dedicated to advancing medical education and participates as a Graduate Medical Education Simulation Liaison at Duke’s Human Simulation Patient Safety Center. Her clinical research interests are focused on regional anesthesiology and acute perioperative pain management. Dr. Kumar is also an active member of the perioperative leadership group in her department and is recognized nationally as a speaker at the American Society of Anesthesiologists. She contributes to the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and is an Associate Member of the Association of University Anesthesiologists.
