Biography

Amanda Stockton is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she began her tenure in January 2015. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley, obtained in 2010, and both B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completed in 2004. Additionally, Stockton earned an M.A. in Chemistry from Brown University in 2006. Her research interests focus on the development of instruments for organic analysis in the search for extraterrestrial life, microfluidic methodologies for evaluating hypotheses concerning the origin of biomolecules and the emergence of life, as well as terrestrial technology applications for environmental analysis and point-of-care diagnostics. Through her work, she aims to bridge analytical chemistry with innovative approaches to both planetary and terrestrial exploration.
