Biography

Amanda Whipple is an Assistant Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University. Her research primarily focuses on gene regulation and the role of imprinted non-coding RNAs in the brain. The laboratory aims to determine the cis- and trans-acting mechanisms of imprinted non-coding RNAs and their physiological functions. Utilizing an in vitro system, Amanda's lab is investigating neuronal targets and the regulatory pathways of imprinted small nucleolar RNAs and microRNAs. The lab has previously demonstrated that targeting long non-coding RNAs may provide a viable therapeutic strategy for certain genetic disorders. Future research will delve deeper into the physiological roles of imprinted non-coding RNAs in normal and dysregulated neurodevelopment. Amanda’s work has been published in reputable journals, highlighting the impact of her studies on understanding complex genetic mechanisms in neurological disorders.
