Biography

Amanda Wise is a Professor at Macquarie University, specializing in social inequalities, migration, and urban sociology. Her research investigates the intersection of community life and social inequality within global cities, focusing on the experiences of migrant populations and the dynamics that contribute to urban resilience and cohesion. Wise has extensive experience in advising and conducting commissioned research for government bodies, addressing issues related to diversity strategies and tackling racism. She has supervised numerous PhD projects centered on multiculturalism, social inequality, and urban communities, making significant contributions to the field. Currently, she leads projects examining informal sport's role in migrant integration and the implications of the gig economy on worker welfare. Wise's academic qualifications include a PhD in Cultural Research from Macquarie University and an honors degree in Sociology from the University of Wollongong.
