Biography

Amany Elbehairy is an Associate Professor in the Division of Respirology, Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine at Queen's University. She graduated from Alexandria University in Egypt and completed her initial postgraduate training in internal medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Elbehairy pursued a PhD in clinical fellowship focused on general respiratory sleep medicine at Queen's University in Canada. Following this, she relocated to the United Kingdom, where she completed clinical research fellowships at Imperial College London and the University of Manchester. In 2022, she qualified for Membership in the Royal Colleges of Physicians in the United Kingdom. Dr. Elbehairy has received several prestigious research awards, including the Excellence Grant from the European Respiratory Society. She serves as the principal investigator at the Respiratory Investigation Unit (RIU), which has broad interests in clinical respiratory physiology. Her research primarily focuses on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep disorders, and exercise physiology, particularly in applying advanced pulmonary imaging techniques. Dr. Elbehairy has a strong track record in scientific publications and is committed to improving clinical service and education in COPD and sleep disorders.
