Amar Khoday joined the faculty of Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba in 2012 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2017. In April 2024, he was promoted to full professor. He has authored 15 publications, including articles and book chapters, and contributed over 100 blog posts. As an Associate Editor and regular contributor to Criminal Reports published by Thomson Reuters, he has co-authored the National Judicial Institute's Criminal Essentials eLetter for over 1400 Canadian judges. Khoday earned his Doctor of Civil Law in 2014, a Master of Laws in 2008 from McGill University’s Faculty of Law, and a Juris Doctor in 2004 from New England School of Law. His doctoral thesis focused on “Legitimizing Resistance? International Refugee Law Protection for Individuals Resisting Oppression.” He has received several fellowships and awards, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Research Fellowship and the O’Brien Fellowship in Human Rights and Legal Pluralism. His work encompasses a range of topics, including legal history, race law, and the interplay between law and social movements.
