Dr. Amaya Atucha

Biography

Amaya Atucha is a Professor and Department Chair at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences. She holds the Gottschalk Endowed Chair in Cranberry Research. Her research program addresses a broad set of questions related to perennial fruit crop systems, with a strong emphasis on crop ecophysiology, plant nutrition, and fruit quality. As a plant physiologist, her work connects fundamental studies of plant function with applied strategies to tackle challenges in fruit crop production. Her goal is to extend research-based information that enhances productivity, profitability, and the long-term sustainability of the fruit industry in the Midwest, while contributing to the teaching mission of the department by integrating research and applied perspectives in the classroom.
