Amber Elaine Johnson, MD, MS, MBA, FACC, FAHA, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. She completed her undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Pittsburgh and obtained her medical degree and Masters in Business Administration from Jefferson Medical College and Widener University. She furthered her training with a year of patient safety and quality improvement at the Armstrong Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Johnson then completed a general cardiology fellowship and a research fellowship focused on obtaining a master’s degree in clinical research. She joined the faculty of the University of Chicago in 2023, having served as a Staff Cardiologist at the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Health System and as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research encompasses health equity, social determinants of health, and mobile health technology, and has resulted in numerous publications and national recognition. She was named one of the National Minority Quality Forum's 40 Leaders Under 40 in Health and received the Women Escalator Award in clinical research. Dr. Johnson enjoys cooking, running, and spending time with her family.
