Biography

Ambrogio Camozzi Pistoja is an Associate Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, specializing in Italian Studies. He holds a BA in Medieval Humanistic Philology from the University of Milan and an MPhil in European Literature & Culture, as well as a PhD in Italian Studies from the University of Cambridge. Pistoja’s research focuses on pre-modern Italy, particularly between the 4th and 15th centuries. He employs a literary critical approach and has a keen interest in the cultural history of the period, emphasizing how literary criticism can be grounded in the nuances of verbal language. His works explore themes such as alchemy, satire, and apophatic traditions, contributing to the understanding of iconic texts like Dante's works and the narratives surrounding figures like Alexander the Great. He has authored several publications, including his books 'Vita di Alessandro Magno con figure' (Brepols, 2018) and 'La materia di Dante' (Longo, 2024).
