Dr. Amelia Dale

Biography

Amelia Dale is a Lecturer in English at the Australian National University, specializing in eighteenth-century literature and culture. She has previously held positions at Nanjing University and the University of Sydney, where she received her PhD focused on eighteenth-century literature. Her monograph, 'Printed Reader: Gender, Quixotism, Textual Bodies Eighteenth-Century Britain' (Bucknell University Press, 2019), examines British adaptations of Miguel de Cervantes' 'Don Quixote' and discusses how literature has historically influenced readers' minds, characters, and bodies in gendered ways. Dale's research has been recognized with a shortlisting for the British Association for Romanticism's Book Prize. She has also collaborated with Dr. Nicola Parsons on a project cataloging the lives of London sex workers from 1760 to 1794. In addition, she serves as an editor for the academic journal 'Shandean' and as an interviews editor for the poetry journal 'Rabbit.' Dale's research interests include gender and genre studies, histories of the novel, women's writing, and contemporary experimental writing. She welcomes supervision requests for projects related to these topics.
