Amelia Kellar completed her MD at the University of Calgary, where she received the Nat Christie Medical Entrance Scholarship as part of the Leaders Medicine program, aimed at physicians pursuing academic medicine. Dr. Kellar has made significant contributions to IBD research, notably as the first author of guidelines for the use of intestinal ultrasound among Pediatric Gastroenterologists and the development of the pediatric activity ultrasound score (SPAUSS) for accurately detecting pediatric inflammatory bowel disease. Her research has been presented at the Advances in IBD, European Crohn’s Colitis Organization (ECCO) Congress, and Digestive Disease Week (DDW). She has received multiple accolades including the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Resident Research Award and the Alberta Medical Association Pediatric Section Grant. Currently, Dr. Kellar is a certified intestinal ultrasonographer trainer for the International Bowel Ultrasound Group and holds appointments in both Pediatric and Adult Gastroenterology at the University of Chicago. Her research interests include intestinal ultrasound and novel dual advanced therapies clinical trials.
