Biography

Dr. Amer Johri is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University, specializing in cardiology and advanced echocardiography. He completed his advanced (Level III) Echocardiography Fellowship at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Johri has significantly contributed to both the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and the Canadian Society of Echocardiography (CSE), having served on several boards, including as the immediate past chair of ASE's Circulation and Vascular Ultrasound (CAVUS) Council, and currently as treasurer and executive board member of CSE. He is a founding editor and publisher of the POCUS Journal, focusing on the use of ultrasound in assessing cardiovascular risk stratification. His research interests encompass several thematic areas, including cardiopulmonary point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), cardiovascular screening in special populations such as women and indigenous peoples, and the analysis of vulnerable atherosclerotic carotid plaque using 3D imaging techniques. Dr. Johri is also the founder and director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Network at Queen's (CINQ), which collaborates on research partnerships with global networks and major industrial organizations. He holds multiple grants as a principal investigator and has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, contributing extensively to the field of echocardiography and cardiovascular health.
