Biography

Amer Sami graduated from Punjab University in Pakistan in 1989. He worked as an emergency medicine physician before moving to the USA to complete his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. He joined the Saskatoon Cancer Center in 2000 as a medical oncologist and served as the director of Medical Oncology from 2002 to 2007. Currently, he is the Medical Director of the center and is a member of the Drugs Therapeutics Committee. He has also served as the lead for the breast cancer team until 2019. His interests include medical technology, and he has participated in pilot programs for telemedicine at the Cancer Agency. He was part of the implementation team for the Agency's Electronic Medical Record system. His clinical interests include breast, lung, genitourinary, and CNS cancers. He is an active participant in clinical trials in Saskatoon, taking part in landmark studies such as the HERA and ATAC trials. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, reading, and supporting Manchester United.
