Amilcare Gentili received his Doctor of Medicine degree magna cum laude from the University of Pavia in 1983, where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class. He completed his residency in Nuclear Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami, in 1986, serving as Chief Resident. Subsequently, Dr. Gentili completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at University Hospitals Cleveland in 1992. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He was an Assistant Professor and later an Associate Professor of Radiological Sciences at UCLA before joining the University of California, San Diego as a Professor of Clinical Radiology in 2002. Dr. Gentili also served as Chief of Radiology at the San Diego VA Health Care System. His research interests encompass MR imaging of the musculoskeletal system, musculoskeletal neoplasms, radiology informatics, natural language processing, machine learning, deep learning, and cost-effectiveness analysis. Over his career, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and scientific abstracts and serves on the editorial boards of several leading radiology journals.
