Biography

Amine Benzerga is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he also serves as the Director of the Center for Intelligent Materials and Structures (CiMMS). He earned his Ph.D. in Material Science & Engineering from Ecole des Mines de Paris in 2000. His research interests span across several fields including Mechanics of Materials, High-Performance Computing, Anisotropy, Plasticity, and Fracture. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of Ductile Fracture, Discrete Dislocation Plasticity, and Dislocation Mechanics, and his work also encompasses Macromolecular Mechanics focusing on Polymers and Composites. He has received numerous awards for his outstanding research, including the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation in 2008 and the Select Young Faculty Award from the Texas Engineering Experiment Station in 2009. Notably, he was recognized for his highest honors during his Ph.D. dissertation work at Ecole des Mines de Paris in 2000.
