Biography

Amir Fam is a Professor and Vice-Dean (Research) at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen's University. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Alexandria University and both a MASc and PhD in Civil Engineering (Structures) from the University of Manitoba. He has served as an Assistant Professor at Queen's University since 2002 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2009. His research focuses on structural engineering, particularly in the context of fiber-reinforced polymers and sustainability in civil infrastructure. Dr. Fam has authored numerous academic works, including over 130 refereed journal papers and multiple books. He was awarded the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) for Innovative Retrofitted Structures and has received various accolades, including the Ontario Early Researcher Award and elections to Fellowships in several engineering societies. In addition, he has trained numerous graduate students and supervised numerous post-doctoral fellows in his field.
