Biography

Amir Sanati Nezhad is a Full Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. He is the Principal Investigator of the BioMEMS Bioinspired Microfluidic Laboratory. Amir completed his Postdoctoral training at Harvard and McGill Universities from 2013 to 2015 and earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University (2010-2013), as well as B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology and Amirkabir University of Technology, respectively. His research focuses on bioinspired microfluidics, tissue engineering, biosensors, wearable technologies, organ-on-chips, and point-of-care solutions. Dr. Sanati Nezhad has published over 350 peer-reviewed articles and has delivered invited talks at numerous national and international conferences. He has received several prestigious awards such as the CMC Microsystem's Douglas R. Colton Medal for Research Excellence, the Governor General's Gold Medal in Canada, and recognition as a Canada Research Chair. His research program is committed to developing integrated microdevices for biomedical applications and advancing diagnostic technologies.
