Amit Khanna, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in minimally invasive techniques for colorectal surgery. With over 20 years of experience, he leads the provision of colorectal surgical services in the Bridgeport region, collaborating with the Digestive Health service line at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Network. Dr. Khanna's expertise includes the management of inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal malignancies, and anorectal diseases. His journey into medicine was influenced by his late mother, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist, which inspired him to serve children dealing with cancer. Initially considering cardiology, he was drawn to surgery during medical school rotations, leading him to specialize in innovative minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Khanna emphasizes the importance of building relationships with patients, focusing on education and shared decision-making regarding their surgical options to maintain a quality of life.
