Dr. Ammar Rashid is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Queen's University, where he serves as the Division Chair for Hospital Medicine and Clinical Director of the Complex Medical Management program at Providence Transitional Care Centre. He graduated with an MBBS from Rawalpindi Medical University in Pakistan in 2006 and underwent internal medicine residency training in Qatar. In 2019, Dr. Rashid joined the Department of Family Medicine at Queen’s University, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the academic division of hospital medicine in Canada and became its inaugural division chair. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Annual Award of Excellence by the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2022. Dr. Rashid has a strong passion for medical education, interprofessional education, collaborative practice, and teaching in hospital medicine. He also holds a Master of Health Professions Education from Queen’s University, completed in 2022.
