Biography

Amra Saric completed a BSc in Chemistry and Biology at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) before briefly working in industry as an Analytical Chemist. She then returned to TMU, where she completed her PhD in Molecular Science under the supervision of Dr. Roberto Botelho. Following this, she undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, specifically within the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NIH/NICHD) in Bethesda, MD, working in Dr. Juan Bonifacino's laboratory. In September 2023, she joined the Hospital for Sick Children as a Scientist in the Neurosciences Mental Health Program and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry. The Saric Lab investigates the fundamental mechanisms that maintain properly functioning organelles, focusing on the dynamics of endocytic and biosynthetic/secretory pathways and their regulation by membrane contact sites. The lab employs advanced imaging techniques and classical biochemical approaches to gain insights into the roles of organelles and membrane contact site proteins in health and disease.
