Dr. Amrit Rai

Biography

Amrit Rai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Queen's University, with specialized training in comprehensive ophthalmology. He earned degrees in Bachelor of Health Sciences and Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University. After completing his medical training, Dr. Rai engaged in a research fellowship focused on Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery at the University of Toronto, where he also completed his residency in Ophthalmology. Throughout his five-year residency, he was consistently recognized for his high academic performance and received accolades for his surgical skills, including the Kensington Eye Institute award for top surgical resident. Dr. Rai is board-certified and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of ophthalmological conditions, with a particular focus on cataract surgery and the medical and surgical management of various eye diseases. He is passionate about global health, having participated in the Global Health Education Initiative Program during his residency, and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters in the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Rai is committed to advancing clinical and academic initiatives within the Department of Ophthalmology at Queen's University.
