Biography

Amro Awad is an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Digital Technologies at the University of Oxford. He serves as a Tutorial Fellow at University College and previously held a tenured position as an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University. His academic journey includes industrial experiences at prominent organizations such as HP Labs, AMD Research, and MediaTek USA, as well as work in government laboratories, including Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories. Amro has been involved in significant research, leading the Secure Advanced Computer Architecture (SACA) research group. He holds more than 8 granted U.S. patents and has been inducted into the prestigious IEEE TCCA HPCA Hall of Fame. Since February 2024, he has served as an Associate Editor for the ACM Transactions on Architecture and Code Optimization (TACO). His team's research has been recognized at major computer architecture conferences, with nominations for best paper awards. Amro has also received several awards, including the Bennett Faculty Fellowship and Goodnight Early Career awards in 2023. He has chaired program committees for notable conferences such as IEEE ICCD and IEEE IISWC.
