Biography

Amy Adler works across disciplines including drawing, performance, photography, and film. Her practice explores media processes and the subjects that exist within paradigms of identity. Born and raised in New York City, Amy graduated from LaGuardia High School of Music and Art. She attended Cooper Union and went on to receive her MFA in art practice from UCLA, as well as film production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Amy has participated in multiple national and international gallery and museum exhibitions, including solo projects at MOCA Los Angeles, Aspen Art Museum, and UCLA Hammer Museum. Her drawings, films, and photographs are included in permanent collections worldwide. In 2005, Twin Palms Press released a large-scale monograph entitled "Amy Adler: Young Photographer." Amy's work has been featured in multiple publications, including "Art Queer Culture" (Phaidon, 2012). Her short films have been screened at international film festivals, such as Frameline, Outfest, and BFI Flare. Amy Adler is also a recipient of the 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship and has been teaching at UC San Diego since 2004.

Bachelor's degree in physical, biological, or earth sciences, mathematics, or engineering. Differential and integral calculus. One year of calculus-based physics with laboratory. One year of chemistry with laboratory.
