Dr. Amy Barron

Biography

Amy Barron is a Lecturer in Social Cultural Geography at the University of Manchester, where she has developed a research profile that focuses on lived experiences of urban difference and inequalities. Her work examines how different age categories —such as youth and older age— are represented and understood within sociocultural contexts. Barron's research spans several areas, including age, aging and the life-course; urban experiences of difference; place-making and memory; and the methodology of social sciences. Her analytical framework utilizes creative, participatory methods to explore the dynamics of social and spatial inequalities, especially among older populations. With a strong academic background in Human Geography, she has been involved in various projects and exhibitions that emphasize the importance of age-friendly design across urban landscapes. Barron is committed to engaging with policymakers and communities to foster inclusive practices that address the needs of diverse populations.
