Dr. Amy Bohnert

Biography

Amy S. Bohnert is a Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School, serving in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Psychiatry, and as the Executive Director of the Pain Opioid Research. She holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health, awarded in 2008. Dr. Bohnert's research interests focus on the epidemiology of opioid use, substance use disorders, and mental health outcomes, particularly among vulnerable populations. Her recent publications address topics such as the risks associated with tapering opioids, the integration of digital phenotyping for monitoring physical activity and mood in bipolar disorders, and the implications of opioid settlements on public health policy. She is a Center Member of the AI Digital Health Innovation and the Opioid Research Institute at the University of Michigan, emphasizing her commitment to advancing healthcare policy through research and education.
