Biography

Amy Cottle is a lecturer at University College London, specializing in high energy physics. She joined UCL in 2023 and is a key member of the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) collaboration, leading efforts in dark matter analysis and setting world-leading constraints on interactions of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) with ordinary matter. Her research group is actively engaged in the LZ project, focusing on statistical inference and the search for neutrinoless double beta decay amidst spurious backgrounds. Furthermore, she is a founding member of the XLZD initiative, which aims to develop a next-generation detector significantly larger than LZ's, aimed at detecting dark matter through second-order weak decays and functions as a solar and atmospheric neutrino observatory. Currently, she co-leads a work package on background assessment and clean manufacture in the UK, working towards the construction of the experiment at the Boulby Underground Laboratory.
