Biography

Dr. Amy Dobberfuhl received her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2004 and her M.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010. She completed residency training in Urology at Albany Medical College, New York, in 2015 and subsequently pursued an ACGME fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) with special emphasis on Neurourology and Voiding Dysfunction at Stanford University in 2017. Joining the Department of Urology, Dr. Dobberfuhl focuses on both clinical practice and laboratory research. Her clinical work encompasses Pelvic Reconstruction, Neurourology, and Voiding Dysfunction. Her clinical research interests include Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS), Nocturia, urinary tract infections, sex differences in lower urinary tract dysfunction, and radiation cystitis. In her laboratory research, Dr. Dobberfuhl investigates basic science translational topics such as pelvic floor ischemia, the effects of estrogen on the lower urinary tract, and urinary biomarkers in lower urinary tract dysfunction using animal models. She aims to improve treatment outcomes through innovative research and clinical trials, including therapies for refractory overactive bladder and the management of IC/BPS.
