Biography

Amy Louise Erickson is a Professor in the Faculty of History at the University of Cambridge, specializing in feminist history. She completed her BA in Social Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley and received her PhD from Cambridge in 1991, under the supervision of Margeret Spufford. Throughout her career, she has held various short-term, part-time research contracts, culminating in a full-time position at the university in 2013. Erickson has convened several undergraduate papers, including those focusing on Early Modern Britain and has explored gender-related economic and social history from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Notably, she supervises a range of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and has engaged in significant research projects examining women’s social history, including studies of labor and education. She co-convenes seminars on early modern economic and social history and serves on the Editorial Board for the Cambridge Working Papers in Economic & Social History. Additionally, she has collaborated on the Leverhulme Network 'Producing Change: Gender and Work in Early Modern Europe' (2016-2019).
