Amy Jenne is an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto. Her Ph.D. research focused on examining metabolic changes in Daphnia magna, commonly known as water fleas, using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR). She has developed a variety of new techniques to help examine small changes in these organisms, overcoming current sensitivity limitations in NMR. This work is critical for understanding the impacts of chemicals in water systems. In addition to her research, Dr. Jenne is engaged in pedagogical research, specifically creating accessible laboratory experiments for students with disabilities and helping develop metacognitive practices and study strategies in undergraduate chemistry. She is enthusiastic about developing community-engaged learning practices in her undergraduate classroom, especially in analytical settings, and hopes to expand students' understanding of chemistry by partnering with community groups to challenge them to solve content-related problems.
