Biography

Amy W. Schulman joined Harvard Business School’s faculty as Senior Lecturer in July 2014. She is currently managing partner at Polaris Partners, focusing on investing in healthcare companies and early-stage biotech start-ups. Over the past twenty-five years, she has led healthcare initiatives at a global law firm and served as senior partner and general counsel for a Fortune 50 pharmaceutical company. Schulman has held executive roles, including president of the consumer products and nutrition divisions and has deep relationships in Singapore and Asian markets. Her experience encompasses business acumen, regulatory insights, and engagement strategies aimed at driving positive change for patients, providers, companies, and investors. She is also actively involved in the boards of several organizations, including Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, ByHeart, and Fractyl Health, and serves on the boards of California Institute of Technology and Mount Sinai Hospital. Furthermore, Schulman is a member of Singapore’s Health Biomedical Sciences International Advisory Council, contributing to its quasi-government boards. Her accolades include the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers Achievement Award, ranking on Scientific American’s Worldview 100 List, and recognition in Fortune Magazine’s list of 50 Powerful Women in Business. She graduated from Wesleyan University and Yale Law School.
