Biography

Amy VandenBerg received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Psychology in 1994 and her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in 1999 from the University of Michigan. She completed her PGY1 and PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy residencies at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and became a Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist in 2001. From 2002, she served as the Pharmacy Clinical Operations Coordinator at MUSC's Institute of Psychiatry and was the Residency Program Director from 2003 to 2016. In 2016, she returned to Michigan as an inpatient clinical specialist focusing on psychiatry and neurology services, where she established the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency. In 2020, she joined the College of Pharmacy as a Clinical Associate Professor. Her editorial roles include serving as Senior Editor for the journal 'Mental Health Clinician' and Assistant Editor for the DiPiro textbook 'Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach'. Her research interests focus on demonstrating the impact of psychiatric pharmacists and expanding clinical pharmacy services to improve patient outcomes.
