Biography

Professor Amy Zavatsky studied Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania before receiving the Thouron Award for postgraduate study in the UK at the University of Oxford, where she completed her doctorate in the area of orthopaedic biomechanics. She has held a post-doctoral research appointment in Oxford University's Department of Engineering Science, alongside a Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship at St Hilda's College. Currently, she is a Reader in Engineering Science and a Tutorial Fellow at St Edmund Hall. She has received numerous accolades, including the Teaching Awards from the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science and the Philip Leverhulme Prize. Her research primarily focuses on biomechanics, particularly the musculoskeletal system, joint loading, and gait analysis. She is currently involved in projects that aim to advance multi-segment foot modeling and enhance clinical gait analysis through innovative data visualization techniques. Professor Zavatsky also teaches undergraduate courses in mechanical, civil, and biomedical engineering, and is open to discussing DPhil opportunities in related technical areas.
