Amy Zavatsky studied Bioengineering as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania and received the Thouron Award for postgraduate study in the UK, enrolling at the University of Oxford, where she completed her doctorate in the area of orthopaedic biomechanics. She subsequently held a post-doctoral research appointment at Oxford University's Department of Engineering Science, alongside a Junior Research Fellowship and Lecturership in Engineering at St Hilda's College. Currently, she is a Reader in Engineering Science and a Fellow Tutor in Engineering at St Edmund Hall. Her research interests include biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system with a focus on motion loading of the joints in the hip, knee, ankle, and foot, as well as gait analysis through motion capture technologies. She is involved in clinical research applications such as developing advanced multi-segment foot models and data visualization techniques for clinical gait analysis, aimed at improving treatment decisions and enhancing student learning experiences. Her teaching contributions include undergraduate courses in mechanical, civil, and biomedical engineering. She has received several teaching awards and recognitions for her sustained excellence in biomechanics education and contributions to establishing the MSc in Biomedical Engineering.
