Biography

Ana M. Abrantes is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University's Alpert Medical School. Her research focuses on developing and testing novel interventions aimed at decreasing the relapse risk among individuals suffering from alcohol and drug use disorders, as well as nicotine dependence. Current projects involve the use of text messaging, the development of smartphone applications, and neurostimulation techniques such as transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS). Her research includes evaluating Fitbit-supported lifestyle changes, using physical activity applications, and implementing peer-facilitated interventions. Dr. Abrantes has received several accolades, including the APA Division 50 Young Scholar Award and the NIH Clinical Research Loan Repayment Award.
