Biography

Ana Basiri is a Professor of Geospatial Data Science at the University of Glasgow and a UK Research Innovation Future Leaders Fellow. She is the Director of the Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and serves as an EngineeringX Champion at the Royal Academy of Engineering. Ana leads the Geospatial Data Science Group, which focuses on developing theoretical and applied solutions to address biases and gaps in data relevant to geospatial problems. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications, she supervises PhD students and has received several prestigious awards including EU Role Model Science and Alexander Humboldt Prize. Ana’s research interests lie in artificial intelligence, the integration of traditional and modern data sources, and the challenges posed by data missingness. She actively advises government organizations and has led significant projects funded by various research councils and institutions, such as the Alan Turing Institute and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
